Lookin' like a party and loads of pictures

Lily is having her 9th birthday party on Sat. These are her party favor gift bags.  The bag topper says "Have a sweet celebration".  The bags are filled with a bottle of bubbles, gum, laffy taffy, M&M's and stickers.  They were sure fun to make...hardest part was keepin' Uncle Ken out of the candy!  The next 2 pics of different views of the bags.

Yep, thats glitter on them there party hats....cause we know Moo Moo cant make anything with out a touch (or more) of Dazzling Diamond Glitter!!!!!

Sorry for the glare.  Just wanted to show a close up of the bags.

Lucy was not happy that her momma had gone shopping without her.  I had emptied out the Hobby Lobby bag when she got in it and got her head stuck thru the handle and was trying to walk while trying to figure out why was the bag coming with her.  She was toooo funny.

Miss Kitty was up in the pecan tree earlier this week while I was sitting under it.  Not sure what she was licking - think it was her paw.  She had climbed up way to the top and was working her way down.

Miss Kitty thinks that the bird feeder and bird bath are her "Luby's Cafeteria".   There are 2 birds on the ground and it is taking every fiber of her being to stay still and not go leeping at them.  When I am outside I make sure to scare the birds away when she is in the attach mode.....and had already done so twice.  So guess she figured to just watch the birdies.

Think she is thinkin' "Ok, if I maintain this pose and stay really really still the birds will not see me and will come in for a drink....then I can pounce!"  She stood here for several minutes just staring at the water in the bird bath.

And last but not least, one more hummingbird pic.  Yesterday I was sitting out in the yard just under the hummingbird feeder.  One came in to feed, and I was able to look up and snap this picture.

Hi everyone:  what a wonderful Sunday.  Church was up-lifting and then a cold front came in.....dropped the temp to the low 60's.  OMG- how wonderful.  But still we have no rain.  We are praying for rain like everyone in Travis County, but we dont want the horrific storms that have hit Ala. and Ga.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone and to our family and friends that live in those areas.  We had a quiet week this week,  but this next week is a busy one.  Ken has an appt. on Wed. for cardio-vascular doctor to have study done on left leg.  He's having some swelling and we cant seem to get it to resolve itself so our family doc wants him to see cardio-vas doctor.  Sat. Lily is having her 9th birthday party at a local skating rink.  You can bet that Moo Moo will NOT be on skates.   On Sun. we will go to our grand-daughter Rachael's dance recital.  So that will be a busy weekend for us. Fun, but busy.  As I was telling friends Sat. we must get children.....cause we are taking way to many pictures of the "girls" (aka cats).  But they make us laugh so much and give us oh so many photo opportunities....so hope you enjoy the pics.  All our love.   Ken and Glynda :)

Happy Easter

As you all know, Miss Lucy loves to be on the table with me each morning as I have my quiet time or read.  Well, the morning of this picture  I walked around to tell her to get down and as I did she yawned oh so wide...looks like he is telling me what she thinks of my idea!  Oh, I am so proud of the way I am treated by the "children"....those of you with cats know exactly what I am talkin' about.

Here is a picture of Scott and his dad taken Sat. at their house.

Here is Caelynn and Rachael the birthday girl.

Rachael was surprised with 2 full cans of silly string.

Caelynn

Rachael

This afternoon while I was preparing our dinner I looked out the kitchen window a road runner had come up to the edge of the porch.  I grabbed the camera and got this picture.  It ran off before I could get any more.

We wish each and everyone of you a very blessed and happy Easter.  What a wonderful day as we take a moment to thank our Lord for the resurrection of his Son.  We had a wonderful weekend.  Saturday was our grand daughter Rachael's 10th birthday.  We went over for a family celebration.  Today was a quiet afternoon.  Had a lovely morning at church and then we enjoyed an early dinner here.  Looks like a busy week so really enjoyed the quietness of today.  We are still praying for rain.  The ground is oh so dry.  For those of you that don't live here - there was a ban on outdoor grilling and even smoking at the local parks and state parks this weekend.  Its that DRY!  We so need the rain.  So for those of you that are enjoying rain....please share it with us and send it this way.    All our love to all,   Ken and Glynda  :)

Ken celebrates his birthday

Ken turning 73 - he is still my hunky hunky.  His beard may now be white, but he is still the man I fell in love with and married.  Love you sweetie.

Ok, can you get any more relaxed than this?  Ken was asleep in his chair, and guess that Lucy decided to join her "dad" in naptime.

Here is my attempt at taking a picture of the moon.  I tried to take it thru the trees so thats what you see  on the right side of the pic.  My camera is not a fancy one with nite time options.

Monday Ken celebrated his 73rd birthday. We enjoyed a quiet day and then went out to dinner at SaltGrass Steak Restaruant.  We had a great dinner, both enjoyed a glass of wine and topped it off with cheesecake (a birthday gift from the restaruant).  Thank you SaltGrass.  We went over to our neighbors house on Sat.  They were having a crawfish boil/fish fry.  We went over about 5 and had lots of good eats.  They had lots of zydeco (??? spelling) music and then around 6:30 a live band began to play.  We stayed until 8.  Since Ken was in his off road vechicle (his power chair) we knew we needed to leave while he could still see the ground and not run into a hole somewhere.  We were all laughing that since the music was so loud would any of the neighbors call the police....well, 1) we dont have police in Webberville and 2) all the neighbors were at the party so we were all okay.  We got to visit with everyone and just sit, eat and listen to good music.  Sunday Ken's sugar was low (in the hi 50's) so I stayed close to home.  After a good breakfast he felt better.  We spent the afternoon enjoying the race.  OMG- What a finish.  Just knew my boy, Greg Biffle was gonna pull it out....but alas, no.  I spent the afternoon working on paper roses for Sept. wedding.  Punched out and started on the first 36 roses.  Going quicker than expected.  All our love to everyone and thank you all for phone calls and cards.  Ken loved them all.    Ken and Glynda :)

Yahoo - spring is here!

Here are the Easter baskets I made for all the girls this year.  Disclaimer....Cherry - dont show these pics to the girls...want it to be a surprise!  I had bought really cute metal baskets this year with cut outs around the middle, but they didnt work as I had planned so hit my stash for these...so love my metal can stash!

I used the test tubes that I used for Halloween.  Filled them with Star Burst jelly beans in pastel colors.

I just love using these cups on projects.  Here I filled the cup with M & M's and used as the center of my spring flowers.  I covered the back of the cup with foil, so makes it a lot easier to get at the candy (I usually use card stock) then hot glued the flower to a candy stick.  Looks good enough to eat!!!!!!!

This is just a little fun poke for the basket.  The egg is done in Dazzling Diamonds glitter - gotta have glitter!

Last but not least - a carrot.  Thank you Valita (valitasdesignsandfreshideas) for the idea.  I had already decided to do this carrot, but could not come up with greenery idea for the top of the carrot.  Then I visited her site and - oh yes - that's what I wanted.   The basket was then finished off with a cookies and cream bunny.  Hope the girls will enjoy.  The Easter bunny will be making his delivery on Thurs.

Good Saturday morning to everyone.  Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and hope you enjoy time spent with those you love.  Its been a semi quiet week here.  I got out on Thurs. and did some weedwacking and some mowing.  Then I decided to tackle (and tackle is a very good choice of words!) the 4 shrubs along the back of our house that are in front of the bedroom windows.  Now they are "scalped", cut way way back, and our bedroom is actually 10 times brighter now that light can get thru!  Course this means I have one huge burn pile, and right now we have not idea when or even if we will be able to burn this year.  The last time I had a huge pile it was almost 3 years before I could burn.  I may look into renting a wood chipper for a day and just mulch it up.  Sure I can find a use for the mulch.  My foot is getting stronger every day.  I push myself on it, but the doc said to keep doing whatever it was that I was doing cause it was working....so I am.  That's not to say that at nite I pay for it, but thats okay, cause I am on it more every day and pushing it to the limit.  I took Lily to a Dr. appt. yesterday.  I picked her up at noon, then we were thru about 1:15.  I didn't take her back to school, instead we went to the mall and walked around for about 45 min. window shopping  until the movie  RIO started.  It is such a cute movie.  We laughed all the way thru it.  Then we finished up the day with ice cream and was the perfect way to end a perfect day and week.  I am starting to work on roses for Billy and Mitzi's wedding.  I will post pics in the next few weeks, but will not post picture of actual "cake" until after the wedding.  I want it to be a surprise.  Better go for now.  Chores are a'callin me.  Love to all.  Ken and Glynda :)

What a glorious Sunday

Here is a close up of one of the hummingbirds sitting in our tree.  He's the bladk spot towards the top of the picutre....I really had to   zoom in to get him.

Now he's coming in for a landing on one of the feeders.

Proud of this close-up.  Those little wings are really flappin'

Landed safely and time to eat.

Good morning everyone.  I was not so gently awaken this morning at 6:30 when Miss Kitty and Miss Ethel decided to go at it thru the window....talk about a lot of catter-wallowing!!!!!  Ok, Ok, I am up!  But after my feet hit the floor and I went out to enjoy my first cup of coffee with Miss Kitty while she had breakfast God sure did give me a great show.  The sun rose oh so brightly, and the critters were out in full force. The small bunnies are out and enjoying the fresh grass to nibble on.  I watched the very fat possum waddle across the back yard, climb the fence post and head over to my neighbors yard.  Miss Kitty decided she would follow it, but I was able to change her mind and keep her up on the porch.  The barn swallows are back in mass.  The cats love to sit at the back door and watch them...we call it their "kitty TV".  Ethel tried to climb the glass window the other day to get to them.  So now until fall my front and back porch will be messy from them.  The hummingbirds are back and spend a lot of time in the early AM feeding.  Hope you enjoyed the pics I took this morning.  I had to stop putting out bird seed for a while.  As soon as I fill up the feeders these black birds (dont know what they are) swarm the feeders and within a few hours they have emptied the feeders.  The cardinals, dove and other small birds get nothing.  So will wait a bit to put out food again and see if maybe they have moved on.  Things are pretty quiet here.  We are waiting to hear when my dad has back surgery.  He has an EMG on April 28 and then will follow up with surgeon in a week.  Guess that then they will discuss type of surgery and when.  Ken is doing pretty good.  He did not sleep well last nite and this morning I could not get him to wake up (or once awake to stay awake.)  Finally got him up and to the table about 10.  His sugar was low (82) but not dangerously low,so this and lack of sleep last nite, he just falls asleep as soon as he gets still for a few minutes. Know that today will be a sleepy kinda day for him.  Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this beautiful day.

Spring is here.....

Hi everyone!  It is truly feeling like spring is here.  We had a couple of days where it was chilly but yesterday was 93 - so guess its more like summer is here instead of spring.  Today is cooler.  Everything here is covered in a layer of green pollen...oh so nice.  I am gonna get out today and do some yard work.  With my foot feeling so much better I am taking it easy but doing what yard work I can.  Know I will need some help around Ken's shop but think I can do the rest of it.  My dear friend Tina came out Thursday to spend some time with us before she moved to Colo.  Her daughter Claire flew in from Denver last nite, we picked her up from the airport at 11:45.  Came back to the house to get some sleep  and they headed out today  (driving) to Tina's new home in Greenwood Village (just outside Denver).  Yesterday Tina and I got out and "played".  We went to see HOP and then Tina got to do some shopping and use some gift cards she got as a going away present.  So we saw a movie, shopped, enjoyed some good coffee and just enjoyed out time together.  I am so sad to see her move but so excited for the adventure she is starting.  I went to the ortho doc on Tues. and got a good report.  I go back in 2 months and if all is well, that will probably be my last appt.  I just have to remember my foot is still tender and I will have to baby it for about 6 months, but at least I am wearing regular shoes and walking with out walker or cane.  Ken had to go to the doc on Mon.  He is having some swelling of his left leg which causes watery blisters to form and then they burst.  I was afraid that we were heading down the path we started 2 yrs. ago, but no.  The doc gave him an antibiotic to take just in case, but found no evidence of infection.  The leg sure looks a lot better today, still swollen but blisters are all gone and open blister healing up.  We also took his power chair in to see if we can get it lowered some.  It sits so tall that he cant get up under a table.  They can do some modification and lower it about an inch and a half.  Not a lot but maybe it will help.  Since the chair was built just for Ken it is just a tall chair.  My dad is going in for surgery on his back - cervical area.  Not sure when.  He goes to see the neurosurgeon on Fri. and will find out then.  I know he doesnt want surgery, but he has lost so much strength and use of his arm that he cant put it off.  Thats about it from here.  Guess I will get busy and go outside to work.  All our love to all.   Ken and Glynda

A wonderful birthday

Hello all:  I want to first thank each and everyone of you for the birthday messages, well wishes, cards and phone calls.  You all made my birthday extra special and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I love each and everyone of you.  Thank you all for making me feel extra special.  I slept in till 8 - any later and the cats are nudging me to get up cause they want their special morning treat!  I thought if I laid there long enough they would serve me breakfast in bed - but nooooo, so I got up, made coffee, looked at the paper and thought they would still make me breakfast, but alas NO.  I did enjoy a wonderfully relaxing day and at 5 we went to dinner at Texas Land and Cattle - one of my most favorite places to eat.  I even went wild and had a glass of wine with my dinner.  We topped the dinner off with a huge warm brownie with ice cream.  I really did waddle out to the car!  It was oh so worth it.  Was the perfect ending to a perfect day.  I spent most of it on the phone, but thats what made it so much fun.  I got to spent time out in my shop on Tues. and got all our Easter cards done.....yahoo.  Now I can start to work on a very special project for an upcoming wedding (Billy and Mitzi!)  and another  project I have been wanting to do.  Having so much fun now that I have 2 legs to walk on! and no wheel chair!  We are gonna have to take Ken' s new power chair in to see if we can get a cushion that is not so thick.  Right now he can not sit in it and fit under a table.  So to eat he has to sit far away from the table.  I will take it in next week and see what they can do...sure hope we can change out the seat cushion or the whole chair can be lowered some.  Ken is engrossed in MI-5 a British TV series about spies....not sure he even knows I am in the room....he loves this series.   Our love to all, and again, thank you all for a great birthday.  Ken and Glynda

Spring has sprung!

Good glorious morning to you all.  I went outside this morning to feed our little Miss Kitty (outside kitty) and while enjoying the wonderful morning with here and some quiet time, I had my first hummingbird come up to the feeder for the season.  So I ran inside (ok, I wabbled - not ran) got the food and filled the feeder.  I havent seen it back yet, but at least I know they are on their way.  Then when I went out front to get the paper I noticed that I had my first iris bloom and several more ready to bloom.  I feel like the dark dull days of winter are over!!!!  I had a really nice weekend.  My sister was in town so got to spend some time with her on Friday along with Lily and Kitty.  Then Sat. I spent time with my dear friend Tina (who is moving to Colo. on Apr. 2)  and then on Sun. I joined her for a going away brunch given in her honor.  Course while I was out playing Ken was at home OD'ing on basketball games and NASCAR races.  Not sure he knew I was gone (LOL).  You women know what I am talking about.....  Over the next month I am planning on working on some 3-D flowers to be used on diffenent projects.  Will post as I get them done.  I have done a rose and amazed how it turned out.  This site that I go to - well the lady does unbelievable work and her methods make something that looks oh so hard, well she breaks the steps down to make it easy.  Thats it from here.  Ken is doing well.  Still some problems laying down to sleep so he is now sleeping in his new power chair.  He can lean it back like a recliner.  Our love to all.  Ken and Glynda :)

Happy St. Patty's Day

Here is Ken's new hydraulic lift on the back of the van.  It works real slick and sure makes my life oh so much nicer. We still have to have load shocks put on the rear so it doesnt drag when the chair is on.

I have loaded the chair and we are ready for our first outing with the chair.

I just wish that when I took a nap I could sleep this soundly.....she is dead to the world!

I have been making some pins - these are made from soda cans and cut out with my die cut machine and are multi layered so they are dimensional

Top of the mornin' to you all.....ok, thats about as Irish as I get.....all is quiet around here.  We have had some great weather mixed in with a few cold ones.  But I think that the cold is pretty much gone for now....yahoo......  We had Lily stay with us this weekend.  I picked her up from school on Fri. and she stayed with us until Sun. afternoon.  It was such a delight to have her visit.  We watched movies and just relaxed.  Since I cant get out and do a lot we had to stay kinda quiet.  We made pizzas Fri. nite and on Sat. it was MooMoo Garden (aka Olive Garden).  It was a true Italian weekend.  Kitty went to New Orleans Fri-Sun. for a Cheer meet.  And this week Madi and her mom are in Calif. to see a doc regarding her arthritis.  My dad is having a procedure next Tues.  He is having an injection into his spine to see if they can pin point exactly where the problem is.  There are 3 or 4 bad spots on his spine so this may be a trial and error approach until they find the exact spot so they will know exactly where to do surgery.  Ken is doing pretty good.  He had fallen out of bed in his sleep back on Feb 28 and hurt his back...think he bruised a rib or pulled something.  Since then he has not been comfortable laying down, so he has slept in the chair everynite.  Hoping he will be able to come back to bed soon.  Know he is tired of sleeping in his chair.  Well, you are up to date on the Moon household.  Hope all have a great week...and hug/kiss those you love.   Love to all   Ken and Glynda :)

I'm Free---I'm Free!

Yes - I am  officially out of the boot and out of the chair.....oh happy day!!!!!!! I turned my chair in yesterday and put the boot in the closet. I am to use the walker when I am out and about but in the house I can do without it.  I had my dr. appt. yesterday and he said that I was healing well.  He felt that I could not stop wearing the boot and put on a shoe.  Ok, this was easier said than done. I only have to wear the boot if my foot is really sore or swelling. Right foot - size 6 and left foot....about a size 9.  He told me to get a good pair of walking shoes and wear these when up and walking.  So this means this girl who never wears shoes except when I am going someplace is gonna have to get used to wearing shoes from the time I get up until I go to bed.  This is gonna take some getting use to.  I am still very sore on the outside of my ankle and foot but Dr. Race said this would ease up after I get stronger.  And he said that it would be 6-8 months before I feel 100% in the foot.  I just have to remind myself to go slow and easy and not get crazy.  Ken went and had eye exam yesterday.  There has been such a slight change in his script that new lens were not necessary.  But the doc wants Ken to see eye surgeon regarding the cataract in his right eye.  So we go next Wed. afternoon.  Will let everyone know what we find out.  Feel like spring is just around the corner.  The days are great ande enjoying the pleasant temps.  The bad side is that the weeds are popping up so next week it is weed spray time.  Trees are starting to bud out...yea!!!!!  Hope everyone is well.  Love to all.  Ken and Glynda :)

Happy Thursday

Wow! I cant believe that it has been 2 weeks since I posted.  Life around the Moon farm has been pretty quiet.  With the bad weather we had we stayed really really close and mostly indoors.  But the weather is a-changing and I am loving it. Cant wait until I am able to get outside and do yard work.  There is a lot waitin' on me. With the freeze we had I can tell that there is lots of pruning back of dead limbs waiting on me.  We had 80's for a couple of days.  Today we even had a good rain that lasted about 10 minutes.  I had just come in from running an errand so glad that I beat it.  Otherwise, I would have looked like a drowned rat.  Went out today and ordered the lift for our van to carry the new power chair.  It came to $500.00 less than we expected so we are thrilled.  It will be in late next week and once in they said a day or 2 to have installed.  The nice thing is they will give me a loaner vechicle so we will have wheels for the time they have the van.  Ken is still using his regular chair in the house.  He likes it better, but it will be so nice to have the power chair so he will be much more mobile when we are out.  I am using the walker more and more.  I have even gone to Walgreens and used the walker to go in then held on to the basket to walk thru the store.  I am even using the walker to go grocery shopping.  Go in on the walker and then use one of their scooters to shop.  OMG- now that is the way to shop - sit, drive and shop.... I really hope that when I go to the Doc on Mar 1 that I get to drop the boot and go to an anke brace.  Now I am just trying to figure out what kinda shoes I am going to wear since my left foot is still twice as fat as the non-injuried foot. Dont want to have to buy 2 diffeent size shoes.   Well, that brings everyone up to date on life in the big W.... Love to all...Ken and Glynda :)

The sun is out!!!

Lily is working on her Valentine cards for her class.  Here she is a stamping machine!

Kitty is working hard as well. Here she is stamping and the next pic shows her assembling the packets.  They are making the mini candy holder like I made for Halloween and Christmas.  One pattern - so many holidays to use it on...gotta love it.

Can you believe how grown up Madison is...she is now 14....where has the years gone?  She is certainly growing up to be a beautiful young woman.

Here is a pic of Lily's finished candy holders.  When the kiddos open the flap they will find Laffy Taffy (the girls candy of choice request).  Lily had to do 23 and Kitty did 27.Then when they were finished we took the shoe boxes and decorated them - wish I had gotten pictures of them cause they did an awesome job.  They both are so creative.

Wow - the sun is shining....wasn't sure what it was at first!  It is misleading however.  When you go outside you  realize it is still oh so cold.  Its 31 now at noon and will drop again to freezing temp tonite.  Then as usual for Texas 50's tomorrow, 60's on Sun and 70's for next week.  They are even saying that we may see 80's in the following week.  Gotta love it!  All is well here.  I went to the doc on Tues. and was told I could start putting my left foot down and walking on it with aid of the walker.  Yahoo. I was so excited.  I get to finally walk.  I have to make sure I have the boot on when I walk.  The only think I dont like about it is the fact that it makes me uneven - notice I DID NOT say  "unbalanced". (lol)  So I tend to wabble when I walk.  I go back Mar 1 and if all looks good then he will have me stop using the boot and go to an ankle brace and dont know if I will continue to use walker or not.  I plan to keep the wheelchair until Mar 1 cause I need it when I go out - using the walker for a long period of time causes my right leg to cramp up so I am using it more each day to build up my strength.   I am hoping to get out to the shop in the next couple of days - gotta make my own Valentines...... or else I will be buying Hallmark.   Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and a special Valentines.  Love to all.  Ken and Glynda :)

Got Snow?

With the weather bad Miss Kitty was brought in to stay warm and safe.  I go in several times a day for kitty time.  I spend about an hour each time and while with her I read.  I have taken to reading out loud and she apparently really likes it.  She curls up and just purrs and sleeps.  Her paws are making "bread" just as I clicked the picture.  She is enjoying U is for Undertow by Grafton.  She is such a sweetie.

Here are two picks of the front yard taken this morning.  It was such fun to find snow outside this morning.

Our resident road runner was out on the last bits of snow this afternoon sunning himself.

We woke up this morning to find snow on the ground.  It was not the 3" they were talking about but we probably got 1/2 to 1".  It is now 2pm and most of the snow is gone.  The sun is out but we are still in the low 30's so almost all of the snow is melted.   Dont know what Austin is like, but out here it is oh so very quiet.  And I am lovin' it.  We went over 60 hours of freezing temps.  Should warm up to low 50's tomorrow - yahoo.  A heat wave!  There is talk of a new wave coming in next week - so will have to wait for the weather report this evening to know what to expect next week.  I had cancelled my Dr appt. for Thurs. due to weather and made it for Tues. so am hoping that the weather stays in the 50's or above.  Well that brings you up to date on life in Webberville.  Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys the superbowl.  Go Steelers!!!!!  All our love, Ken and Glynda :)

BRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Here is Ken's new power chair.  He got it in Arkansas Red....course I am sure he really got it in red to match his scooter...but I like to think he got it to honor my team.  Sure will be nice to have when we are out and about.  Now to order the lift for the back of the van and then we will be set to hit the road.

Now I tell you...this is one fat and fluffy dove.  The wind was fluffing him up.  I watched him while I was washing breakfast dishes and he was perching on the shepard's hook holding the bird feeders.

On Thurs. when I went out to the shop, Miss Kitty was under the shop.  She loves to get under there.  She had found the warm sun shine and she was rolling side to side enjoying the warm earth and sun.  She was so happy momma came out to the shop to work.  She normally comes in and joins me for a while.

Here is a pic of some of the male and female cardinals on the tree that is beside the feeders.  I could not get all the tree from the window.  There were about 15 birds out on it.

OMG.....winter has sure hit us - it is so cold here.  I made sure I had any and all errands done by Tues. so now I do not plan to stick my nose out the door until Sat.  That means the paper and the mail can stay where they are!  It is hard to believe that it has been 2 wks. since I posted.  The days are going by way to fast.  Where did January go?  I did manage to wobble out to the shop last week.  I got as far as the end of the driveway with the wheelchair, then opened the gate and with the aid of my walker got to the shop.  The 15-20 steps took me about 10 minutes to hop along but hey - I made it and got to spend 2 hours out in my shop....total bliss.  Now I wont go out there until the weather warms up.  I was suppose to go to the docs on Thurs. but cancelled until next week.  Dont want to get out in frigid temp.  Mon. I went and applied for Social Security....will start getting my check in May.  Yahoo....  I dont know if I feel old now or just all grown up.  We worked in tandem last nite and got Miss Kitty in.  I got her as far as the back door and then handed her off to Ken so I could get my chair into the house, then I took her back and got her into the spare bedroom.   She has her litter box, bed and food and we plan to keep here there until Sat.  That is when the temp. should get more to normal.  We felt that getting down to the low teens was just to cold for her to be out in, even if she does have a little house to get up in.  I go in several times a day and just love on her..she crawls up in the lap, curls up, purrs and goes to sleep.  She may not be happy about being in the house, but she is being good about it.  No meowing or acting out.  Course Lucy and Ethel have stayed in our bedroom.  Guess that they can smell her and they are not happy.  Just wish that I could get them to accept her...but Ethel and Miss Kitty both want to be alpha kitty. Sat. I had to run into Bastrop to pick up prescriptions for us so Ken went with me.  Our first dual wheelchair outing!  We looked like a convoy!  Ken and I worked together to get his chair in, then I went around and got me in.  After errand we decided to stop for dinner at a Mexican restarunt we like .  After this we were both tired when we got home, but it was nice to have a nite out. Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm.....perfect time to stay in and just snuggle.  All our love - Ken and Glynda

HAPPY SUNDAY

Hope everyone is having a great day.  It is grey and chilly here so we are snuggled inside the house.  We are watching Chicago and Green Bay play - go Chicago!!!!  Right now it is 14-0 (and not in favor of Chicago) so I need to really start to root on my team.  I went to the orthopedic doc on Thurs.  He said that the heel is healing nicely.  All 3 cracks are on the mend, but I am still non weight bearing for another 2 weeks.  I was told that I could start to put my toes down onto the floor and use to balance myself a little if I needed to - but try this without putting any pressure on the toes!  I got a walker after I left his office and will start practicing with the walker with hopes that in 2 weeks I will be able to give up the wheel chair and just use the walker.  I have some swelling in the foot and leg so he ordered me some TED hose to help with the swelling.  A great idea until you have to put these tight fitting hose on over a fractured heel.......poor Ken had to put it on me and it did hurt like all get out!!!!!  I just want it to warm up some outside so the ground will dry up enough that I can attempt to get out to my shop......really ready to do some crafting!  Another reason for me to practice using the walker.....  We went Tues. and talked with Austin Mobility about the lift for the back of the van that will transport the new power chair.  As soon as the chair is delivered they will order the lift and in about a week they will be ready to put it on the van.  I will be calling this next week to see about estimated date of delivery for the chair.  We are so excited about it - really gonna give Ken a lot more mobility and freedom.  Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend and a wonderful week.  All our love,  Ken and Glynda

Happy Saturday

Sunrise - Jan. 1. as seen from our back porch.

Scott and family are fostering a momma cat and her 2 kittens.  Here is one staring out the window at AG the family african grey parrot.  It was so cute.  They were nose to beak thru the window.

This is a birthday "book" card I made for Madison.  She turned 14 on Jan. 1  Each section or "page" is closed and held in place with a magnetic strip.

Pages 1 and 2 open up to revel a pocket on one side to hold a gift card and a place for a note.  Lift up under the yellow scalloped edge and turn the page  to revel pages 3 and 4.

Pages 3 and 4 revel a packet of hot cocoa mix and then a rice crispy treat.  Both to be enjoyed while reading your new book or magazine.

Here is the side view of the card "book"

Wow! Can't believe that it has been a week since I fell and broke my foot (ok, week and 3 days!) I go to the orthopedic doc on Thurs so anxious to hear how much longer I am non weight bearing and how long I will be in the chair.   Life in the wheelchair has certainly been an eye opener.  I will be much more tolerate and patient when waiting on Ken to get ready.  It takes me 15 steps to do something I could do in 2 steps.  But we are coping and adjusting.  I have learned how to sweep the floors and mop from the chair, make the bed - albeit it does look a bit lumpy.  Scott came over Tues. and took me to the store.  Before he left he filled the bird feeders to the brim.  By Fri. they were both empty.  They are sitting on the tree and feeders staring at the kitchen window....probably wondering why I am not out there refilling the feeders!  They are so fat - surprised they can even fly (tee hee hee).  What I am missing most is not being able to get out to my shop.  Ready to start working on Valentines and I am housebound!!!  So today I got out the 178 page manual on My Digital Studio and will start learning how to use it and do cards, scrapbook pages, postcards, etc. digitally.  I am looking forward to learning how to do it.  The pictures today were taken between the 31st of Dec. and Jan 1.  Hope you enjoy the pics and enjoy the rest of the weekend.  We have rain today - so outside is wet and grey.  But it is so needed this rain that I am not complaining.  Love to all.  Ken and Glynda :)

Happy New Year!

Hello dear friends and family:  today will just be a post - no pictures.  Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  It has been fairly quiet here.  This was the week I was gonna take down the tree (its artifical) and put all my Christmas decorations away....but yesterday I had a small accident....I fell.  When I fell I went to protect my right hip and in doing so I fell on my left leg.  I went to the ER and was told it was a bad sprain.  So they put me in a boot and gave me crutches.  Okay - those were not made for my body.  I can not get around with these.  I  fell 3 times so had to use Ken's walker.  Today I went to the Orthopedic doc for an ER follow up.  They took more xrays and found that I had a fractured heel on my left foot.  Fortunately they did not have to put it in a cast.  Because there was no bone displacement they were able to wrap the foot in an ace bandage and put me back in the boot. I will be non weight bearing for a few weeks. So now the Moon household has 2 people in wheelchairs.  Its quiet interesting around here!  I can now appreciate how difficult it is for Ken to get around.  And I am learning to let Ken help me.  Today he made eggs, bacon and coffee for breakfast.  I felt like Lady Astor....Course I am surprised that I did not break it on Tues. nite when watching the Ark/Ohio State game....at one point I wanted to kick something.... hope the Auburn/Oregon game goes better on Mon.    Thanks to Margaret and Jessica we have paper products to use - so now we will have a true tailgate party on Mon. nite.  Love to all.  Will keep you all posted on how we get along both wheelchairs over the next few days.   Ken and Glynda
