HAPPY SUNDAY

Hope everyone is having a great day.  It is grey and chilly here so we are snuggled inside the house.  We are watching Chicago and Green Bay play - go Chicago!!!!  Right now it is 14-0 (and not in favor of Chicago) so I need to really start to root on my team.  I went to the orthopedic doc on Thurs.  He said that the heel is healing nicely.  All 3 cracks are on the mend, but I am still non weight bearing for another 2 weeks.  I was told that I could start to put my toes down onto the floor and use to balance myself a little if I needed to - but try this without putting any pressure on the toes!  I got a walker after I left his office and will start practicing with the walker with hopes that in 2 weeks I will be able to give up the wheel chair and just use the walker.  I have some swelling in the foot and leg so he ordered me some TED hose to help with the swelling.  A great idea until you have to put these tight fitting hose on over a fractured heel.......poor Ken had to put it on me and it did hurt like all get out!!!!!  I just want it to warm up some outside so the ground will dry up enough that I can attempt to get out to my shop......really ready to do some crafting!  Another reason for me to practice using the walker.....  We went Tues. and talked with Austin Mobility about the lift for the back of the van that will transport the new power chair.  As soon as the chair is delivered they will order the lift and in about a week they will be ready to put it on the van.  I will be calling this next week to see about estimated date of delivery for the chair.  We are so excited about it - really gonna give Ken a lot more mobility and freedom.  Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend and a wonderful week.  All our love,  Ken and Glynda

Happy Saturday

Sunrise - Jan. 1. as seen from our back porch.

Scott and family are fostering a momma cat and her 2 kittens.  Here is one staring out the window at AG the family african grey parrot.  It was so cute.  They were nose to beak thru the window.

This is a birthday "book" card I made for Madison.  She turned 14 on Jan. 1  Each section or "page" is closed and held in place with a magnetic strip.

Pages 1 and 2 open up to revel a pocket on one side to hold a gift card and a place for a note.  Lift up under the yellow scalloped edge and turn the page  to revel pages 3 and 4.

Pages 3 and 4 revel a packet of hot cocoa mix and then a rice crispy treat.  Both to be enjoyed while reading your new book or magazine.

Here is the side view of the card "book"

Wow! Can't believe that it has been a week since I fell and broke my foot (ok, week and 3 days!) I go to the orthopedic doc on Thurs so anxious to hear how much longer I am non weight bearing and how long I will be in the chair.   Life in the wheelchair has certainly been an eye opener.  I will be much more tolerate and patient when waiting on Ken to get ready.  It takes me 15 steps to do something I could do in 2 steps.  But we are coping and adjusting.  I have learned how to sweep the floors and mop from the chair, make the bed - albeit it does look a bit lumpy.  Scott came over Tues. and took me to the store.  Before he left he filled the bird feeders to the brim.  By Fri. they were both empty.  They are sitting on the tree and feeders staring at the kitchen window....probably wondering why I am not out there refilling the feeders!  They are so fat - surprised they can even fly (tee hee hee).  What I am missing most is not being able to get out to my shop.  Ready to start working on Valentines and I am housebound!!!  So today I got out the 178 page manual on My Digital Studio and will start learning how to use it and do cards, scrapbook pages, postcards, etc. digitally.  I am looking forward to learning how to do it.  The pictures today were taken between the 31st of Dec. and Jan 1.  Hope you enjoy the pics and enjoy the rest of the weekend.  We have rain today - so outside is wet and grey.  But it is so needed this rain that I am not complaining.  Love to all.  Ken and Glynda :)

Happy New Year!

Hello dear friends and family:  today will just be a post - no pictures.  Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  It has been fairly quiet here.  This was the week I was gonna take down the tree (its artifical) and put all my Christmas decorations away....but yesterday I had a small accident....I fell.  When I fell I went to protect my right hip and in doing so I fell on my left leg.  I went to the ER and was told it was a bad sprain.  So they put me in a boot and gave me crutches.  Okay - those were not made for my body.  I can not get around with these.  I  fell 3 times so had to use Ken's walker.  Today I went to the Orthopedic doc for an ER follow up.  They took more xrays and found that I had a fractured heel on my left foot.  Fortunately they did not have to put it in a cast.  Because there was no bone displacement they were able to wrap the foot in an ace bandage and put me back in the boot. I will be non weight bearing for a few weeks. So now the Moon household has 2 people in wheelchairs.  Its quiet interesting around here!  I can now appreciate how difficult it is for Ken to get around.  And I am learning to let Ken help me.  Today he made eggs, bacon and coffee for breakfast.  I felt like Lady Astor....Course I am surprised that I did not break it on Tues. nite when watching the Ark/Ohio State game....at one point I wanted to kick something.... hope the Auburn/Oregon game goes better on Mon.    Thanks to Margaret and Jessica we have paper products to use - so now we will have a true tailgate party on Mon. nite.  Love to all.  Will keep you all posted on how we get along both wheelchairs over the next few days.   Ken and Glynda
